Being a welcoming church
Bishop Malcolm spoke recently about the difference between a community which looked inwards and a community which looked outwards.
At St. Hugh’s we are encouraged to take our faith outside the church doors; as well as being welcoming to all who come in, and taking care of one another. It is good to feel supported when any of us experiences sad times, bereavement or trouble of any kind. We feel “held up” by the love and prayers of our fellow parishioners.
Advent is an ideal time to make the effort to be more aware of the needs of those around us, including strangers. If we are welcoming to all those who visit our church, it might just make the difference about whether they visit a second time, or decide to stay away.
