Year of Faith

Post date: Mar 15, 2013 3:18:34 PM

On Sunday, 24th February, a prayer card was blessed and distributed to all parishioners. The prayer on the card was the Lord’s Prayer, and will be the focus of our monthly Year of Faith discussion group, which takes place this week.

The Lord’s Prayer ‘is truly the summary of the whole gospel. Since the Lord, after handing over the practice of prayer said ‘Ask and you will receive’, and since everyone has petitions which are specific to their own circumstances, the Lord’s Prayer is said first, as the foundation of other desires. Anyone watching the events in St Peter’s Square this week, would have seen the newly elected Pope Francis lead the faithful gathered there and around the world in the Lords Prayer, as he asked for us to pray for him as he takes on the Papacy.

St Augustine said, ‘run through all the words of the holy prayers in scripture, and I do not think you will find anything in them that is not contained and included in the Lord’s Prayer’

If you are able to join on Saturday, 23rd March after the 10am Mass you would be most welcome. The discussion will conclude by midday.

Living Stones: The Open Deanery Meeting to discuss the process and implications for the Lincoln Deanery is on Wednesday 17th April at 7pm in Our Lady's Church Hall. All parishioners are welcome at both meetings.
