YEAR OF FAITH - Lent 2013

Post date: Feb 8, 2013 3:02:42 PM

Ask anyone - we are all surprised that Lent is almost upon us! What has happened to the time between Christmas and Ash Wednesday? Instead of dreading the start of Lent as another

burden in our busy lives, perhaps we ought to look upon it as a time when we can step back, be quieter, less hurried and more reflective. Rather than taking on more devotions for Lent, it might be better to stay with our normal routine of prayer, but do it more slowly and

thoughtfully. We might even allow ourselves an occasional luxury: thinking time. Who knows where that might lead us?

Ongoing formation for catechists and anyone who plays an active role in their parish: Thursday, 21st February, 7-9pm at Our Lady of Lincoln. “Vatican II and its effects on our lives today.”

Next Year of Faith discussion groups – Saturday, 23rd February in the hall after Mass: Bishop Malcolm’s theme is: The Holy Spirit. Saturday, 23rd March – theme: Teach us to pray.

Christian Meditation takes place every Wednesday lunchtime from 12.30 to 1.00 pm in the church meeting room, with refreshments afterwards in the hall. New people are always very welcome.
