YEAR OF FAITH - Our Lenten Journey

Post date: Feb 15, 2013 1:56:07 PM

We have started out on the six week journey to Jerusalem, wearing our ashes with pride and confidence, and as a symbol of our Faith. The first stage of the journey takes us into the desert, where we think about all the times we have been tempted to take an easier road, or to wander off the path and get stuck in the boggy ground. Let us pray, with Jesus, to our loving Father: “Lead us not into temptation” and “Deliver us from evil.” There are a great many opportunities to think more deeply about our faith during the next few weeks. Here are a few dates:

Station Masses: we have the custom of making a mini-pilgrimage around our deanery during Lent, which gives us the chance to pray with the priests, deacons and laity of the five parishes which make up our deanery. Please note that the date of the first Station Mass has changed from last week’s notice:

Thursday, 28th February – St. Peter and St. Paul, Lincoln

Thursday, 7th March – Holy Rood, Market Rasen

Tuesday, 19th March – St. Hugh of Lincoln

In each church, the evening starts at 6pm with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and confessions. Concelebrated Mass starts at 7pm, and there are refreshments afterwards.

Ongoing formation for catechists and anyone who plays an active role in their parish: Thurs. 21st Feb, 7-9pm at Our Lady of Lincoln. “Vatican II and its effects on our lives today.”

Next Year of Faith discussion groups – Sat. 23rd February in the hall after Mass. Bishop Malcolm’s theme is: The Holy Spirit. Sat. 23rd March – theme: Teach us to pray.

Year of Faith Pilgrimage to Rome, Sunday, 10th November to Friday, 15th November. For details please the poster on the church notice board.

Christian Meditation takes place every Wednesday lunchtime from 12.30 to 1pm in the church meeting room, with refreshments afterwards in the hall. New people are very welcome.
