YEAR OF FAITH - The journey continues from desert to mountain top

Post date: Feb 22, 2013 1:35:24 PM

In the Gospel for the 2nd Sunday of Lent, Jesus has put temptation behind him and turned his face towards Jerusalem. In between preaching and curing the sick, he often withdraws to pray. It is significant that shortly after he has spoken about his death and resurrection, those closest to him see him in all his glory, his face transfigured and shining with light. We pray that we can walk with Jesus on our own Lenten journey, wherever that might lead us.

Next month’s Year of Faith theme is: Teach us to pray. The discussion group will meet in the Church hall on Saturday, 23rd March after 10am Mass and finish at 12noon. New people are most welcome to come along, watch Bishop Malcolm’s video, and take part in the discussion.

Station Masses: we have the custom of making a mini-pilgrimage around our deanery during Lent, which gives us the chance to pray with the priests, deacons and laity of the five parishes which make up our deanery.

Thurs. 28th February – St. Peter and St. Paul, Lincoln

Thurs. 7th March – Holy Rood, Market Rasen

Tuesday 19th March – St. Hugh of Lincoln

In each church, the evening starts at 6pm with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and confessions. Concelebrated Mass starts at 7pm, and there are refreshments afterwards.
